Logic 9 A BIG MESS IN SOUND - Side Chain - instrument reading notes not synced with audio...

    Hi Everyone!

I'm so frustrated in trying to fix the following issue, tried almost everything (at least everything that I know of)...

    So lets start:

About a month ago I've upgraded My home studio with a brand new Mac Pro 8-core... after a long lasting suffering period with a freakin' PC...

    Here is My setup:
    Mac Pro 8-core 2.4GHz
6GB of ram (waiting to upgrade it to 16GB, currently out of stock)
    Lexicon I-Onix u22 (USB connected)
    M-Audio Axiom Pro61
    UAD2 Solo card
    UAD2 Duo card
Cubase 6 (For moving projects to Logic)
Logic Studio 9 (Received it a week ago)
    Genelec 8020B 4" Monitors
    Genelec 7050B 8" Sub

Now to My problem that drives Me nuts!!!

I'm currently learning the way Logic works and stuff..
So I'm moving My Cubase projects into Logic, (I'm stuck with that 1st project that I'm moving)...

I'll make it easy to understand what is My problem is...

I've exported the audio files (Drums, Claps, Percs) from cubase in a 24bit Wav.
Then I've added them into the bin in Logic, then to the project timeline it self.

I've exported the MIDI notes from cubase & imported them into logic and then loaded the Instruments into those midi tracks (instead of a default piano that comes with those midi notes when You import them)

I've started duplicating manually the presets (My presets) of My UAD plugins from cubase to logic.

    until now everything sounds great...
I've YouTubed maybe like 10 different tutorials on SideChaining in logic... (I needed only one to understand how it works in logic, but watched all those tutorials to see if I was missing something out...)

In this current project I have only 6 Channels with Instruments on, such as (Bass, Lead, Pad, Arp...)

After importing the midi tracks to Logic I've started opening some plugins on them like: UAD Neve 33069 Comp, UAD Neve 1081 EQ, Cambridge EQ...

I've opened a logic compressor on those tracks, So I'll be able get that SideChain pumping action...

Created an instrument track to trigger the side chain (UltraBeat)
(Tried both way: Sending to a Bus from "Sends" and sending to a Bus from the "Output")

Now when I try to adjust the side chain to pump what ever I want...
I get this awful sound of something is WRONG here!
The audio files are being played and I can actually hear that the Midi tracks are
    not synced with the playback...
I mean with side chain the track sounds like the side chain is triggered much later than it supposed to be... even when I'm bypassing the side chain compressor I can still hear that this track is somehow off sync...

The only way I get the side chain sound close to what is suppose to do is when I'm hitting the low latency mode...
but then I can't work this way... it bypasses My UAD plugins and everything sounds lame!

I mean there is no possible way to work like that...

I've tried everything I could have found on the net...

*Changed the i/o buffer size, but it only affected on recording midi notes..
*Tried triggering the side chain with an audio file Kick... (same shitty laggy effect)
*Played around with the Plug-in Latency compensation... (now set on default "All")

I don't know what else to do... how the hell can I sync it to work properly?

I'm actually having the same problems on a new project I've created... same ****...

I'm really frustrated from these problems... maybe something needs to be synced in a new Mac ? or I don't know...

Any help will be much appreciated!
(Don't want to go back working on Cubase!)

    Another piece of info:

    UAD Control Panel:
Plug-in Latency 1088 Samples (24.67 msec at 44100Hz Sample Rate)

    Everything Sounds offset!!

    Welcome to the forum!

Sounds like you are off to a good start...

I do not use the UAD cards, but have read they do introduce additional latency. Whether or not Logic can correct for the UAD cards might be the short answer.

Have you tried doing things with only the Logic plugins? Just to isolate whether the UAD cards are adding delay that Logic cannot correct?

UAD Cards will ALWAYS create a delay in your project if you are trying to use the UAD plug-ins while you're recording. There is no latency offset in Logic to correct the delay. Use the UAD stuff after your recording is done to sweeten your mix. There are many other native plug-ins that don't create a delay while recording and they will not effect the delay times in your recording project if you need to hear FX.

    Solved the problem,
First it was Ultrabeat as Sidechain trigger... I mixed with two techniques and looped the ultrabeat when it was already looping inside the ultrabeat...

and other sound problems I guess are over cause of leveling the volume correctly,
    while side chaining...

I guess I was too excited to start working with logic, didn't noticed that the audio engine is a bit different than cubase I guess...

still having some minor problems in other logic stuff, but happy that I've solved that issue...
