Logic Pro 8 Deleting track after protection removed

Hello everyone - hope you all had a great holiday!
-Having trouble deleting tracks after protection has been removed - logic gives a message " Can't do this as track is protected." - Even when I go into track configurations and undo the "lock button" and save the step - logic does not remove the track.

I honestly can't remember how this behaved in Logic 8, but I'm sure it was buggy in Logic 9 for a while. This may be the way it is and used with that caveat.
