Why are some functions for audio parts greyed out in the sample editor. I have tried saving a new copy of the audio file to a different location and its still greyed out?

Is there a document or webpage explaining this process I could look at?

Whenever that's happened to me it's due one of two things:

    1) the audio file not being editable because of the permissions. (Check the file in finder)

    2) me thinking I'd made a selection when I hadn't

If I remember, apple loops have the same issue: they can not be edited unless you bounce them out as a new file in Logic.
