Logic 9 GM sounds for Logic?

Does anyone know how to get, purchase, or otherwise, GM sounds for Logic?
Specifically, I need a harmonica and pedal steel guitar for country music midi.
These sounds are part of GM, (# 52 harmonica, #63 pedal steel), which are available on my Fantom X. I'm in the process, now, of transfering a bunch of Fantom midi files to Logic.
All good except those two sounds, which are not part of any library that comes with LogicPro. I got 9.1.5

    Any suggestions?

Another weird one, but livable. The midi (format 1) files transfer to the proper channels from Fantom/midi to Logic/midi, but, mysteriously, the drum tracks which start out as 10,11,12, show up as 8.9.10 on Logic. ????? That's illogical.
Any explainations, other than Romulan force vectors.

    Thx

You can use the Apple Quicktime Synth for that for example.
In the "New Tracks dialog" select "Software Instrument" (one instance) and check the "Multitimbral" box to the right. Doing that Logic will create a Multitimbral Software Instrument and create 16 tracks automatically set to midi channels 1-16.
Insert the Apple DLSMusicDevice plugin as a Software Instrument (AU Instruments -> Apple ->DLSMusicDevice) and try. Create or record different midi regions on tracks 1-16 and use the Event List for example to create Program Changes, Control Changes etc and set these messages to the proper midi channel regarding the track channel.

Hey Tangra. Thanks for reply. I did everything as you described, and got the 16 new channel/tracks, etc, ....but I still don't have a harmonica sound or pedal steel. Maybe it could be made from the AU instrument, but I really don't like to program sounds...just use those that are available.
Sure seems like there's a way to get the GM list, 128 sounds, as loaded in most midi DAW's and modules/kybds, etc.
I'd like it in the library, accesable just like "Logic instruments", or "Jam Pack Sounds", etc.
    Maybe it's still possible.

To my remembrances the harmonica GM patch uses Program Change #22 not #52.
I have not say they are perfect specially the harmonica is not good at all but some others reminds of the standard GM sounds etc.

Regarding the DLS MD. I was a bit little wrong in my 1st repy by forcing you to create a Multitimbral Software instance. Why? Thinking seriously it can not be used this way cause you cannot control the volume and the pans separately for each channel 1-16. Therefore there is a need to load 16 DLS MD instances and set the software instrument channels to 1-16 etc.
    Sure :)!
I had some time to create a DLS MD Song Template and patch a Muti Instrument to the 16th DLS MD instances. I created 16 tracks for the Multi Instrument so you can choose the Program Change directly in the track inspector for each track (see the image below). Note I have not checked the Volume & Pan boxes cause you do not need that - you have 16 software instances where you can control the levels and pan.
I have enabled the "Send after loading project" ->"Used Instrument midi settings" in the Project template settings so all Program patches you have stored in your project will be loaded automatically when open the project again.
There was another challenge regarding the Reverb and the Expression storage and recalling. I have created a small float environment mixer palette where you can control the reverb or the expr on the fly and it will be stored and recalled properly after loading (there is a Readme doc in the pack about that).
Get the pack from the download link below and try.
If you want some extra GM software instrument with nice high quality I recommend to buy the Steinberg Halion Sonic.

Hey Tangra. thanks. I know you're working hard to help me out with this setup.
I need a few days to try out your suggestions, and work it thru.

    Looks like something will work.
    Thanks again.

    +1 for HALion Sonic.

A really helpful trick is to enter "gm" into the search field of the bottom section of the browser when no category is selected in the top section. All of the GM instruments become visible in the bottom section, listed in order.

HS also has a pedal steel preset which is not a part of the GM sounds.

Another option to consider is PlugSound Pro which also includes a very good sounding GM sound bank.

For what it's worth, here's a link describing the GM sound set:
