Logic Pro (X) hearing fx before recording

I'm using logic x with a new mac pro and roland octal capture. When I set up a track to record and add in all the guitar effects I want it sounds great, but if I loop the track and play it so I can rehearse the piece I loose all my effects? Is it me or the software?
