Logic 9 How can I remove audio from video?

Is there a way to remove or at least mute the audio from a video in Logic?

I imported my video and extracted the audio, but that only creates a track and doubles the sound. I would like to replace it so I can edit that track.

    How should I approach this?

    Hi Andre,

Go into you Project Settings. Go to the Video tab. There you will find a slider to control movie volume. This is what is playing back directly from your imported movie, separate from your extracted audio tracks.

And why is there a lock on the audio region?
I can't trim the left side or move the audio??

    Got it!

Right click on the file and.....Unlock SMPTE position!

Yeah, that's it - you got it:)

It's just the default way Logic treats extracted audio. I guess they are thinking that if you have extracted it from a video, you want to preserve the sync.Which is a reasonable assumption to make as a starting point; although of course we often do need/want to edit this.

I noticed Garage Band takes a totally different approach. -- No lock and no audio in the video.
