Logic 9 how to split to multiple channels?

I want to take a single keyboard input and play the output to 8 midi channels on a single port. I'm trying to do this with the channel splitter, but not getting anywhere, can someone give me a step by step? What should I connect to what? I'm trying to create a fat mono-pad with all 8 channels playing the same note from a master keyboard.

    Thanks,

    Joel

Real quick and dirty, no cabling necessary: Just record enable all 8 MIDI tracks in Logic at once. You'll hear all 8 sounds layered. When you record you'll get alias' on all the tracks after the first.
