glad you found a solution.. thought id post how i work anyway

did you discover that you can just grab the line..?

i use my marquee tool as my secondary tool ( on the cmd key) so select the area then let go... tool changes back to arrow and i can just drag selection up/down from there.. then i can just drag that bottom line with the arrow whenever i need to change that selection.. also do you know that ctrl gives finer cursor movement resolution and ctrl+shift finer still

    have fun learning..

I posted in another forum & got the answer. Many thanks for your reply though !

I'm slogging through a 'to do' list of things i need to be comfortable with, before tackling paid work.

If i have to export & do the final mix in ProTools, that's still ok, but I'd like to try & do it all in Logic if possible.

Yeah, you just need the Normal Pointer tool grab the automation.

    For general editing:(Not Automation)
You might look in to the General Preferences under the Editing tab and check "Marquee Tool Click zones".
This will make the tool work a lot like the Smart tool in Pro Tools with the defaul tool set. As the cursor is over the upper portion of a region it will be a pointer and in the lower section in will be the Marquee tool. With the Marquee tool you can place the cursor where you want to play from without having to go to the timeline.

Hi yes thanks, that was one of the first things i got help with actually. Getting the cursor to behave like a the Pro Tools 'smart tool'.

It's slightly different, but totally useable in it's own way.

I'm impressed so far with Logic 9 i have to say. The last version i tried was Logic 7, & I just gave up after a week & sold the thing again ;)

Logic 9 seems a whole different animal.
