Logic 8 Low Master Bounce Level

    Hello all,

This is my first time posting. I have been using Logic8 for maybe a year, but used ProTools previously. My problem isn't really about recording really, but more about mixing and mastering.

Whenever I get my mix finished and bounce to a 2-track master, the level is considerable low compared to other songs on my computer.

While mixing, I have a good output level because I can control my monitoring, but If I play my track next to come mainstream pro recording, it's very quiet.

I assume big studios have access to much more and have tricks I don't know, but I would like to know what it is.

Basically, I'm doing electronic music and if I put it up to something Crystal Method, it blows it away.

    Any answers/advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks!
    MK

Hi there, the critical step you're missing is mastering. Logic has some preset channel strips set up for this on the output bus, these are *presets* so some tweaking will be required to make them work with your tracks. Try A/B listening against commercial tracks and try and detail the differences.

If you want to take it further its probably worth shelling out some cash and buying some dedicated plugins and having a bit of a read... Just been sent a link from izotope who make ozone, a dedicated plugin for mastering,

It's a good starting point to get around the basics, hope this helps!
