Two standard compositional techniques of classical* music composition are melodic inversion and retrograde motion. In simple form, if you have a melody that goes C,D,E, retrograde would give you E,D,C without flipping the rhythms. Inversion would give you C, Bb,Ab. You can also have both (retorgrade-inversion). I want to know the simplest ways to perform these permutations to a midi selection within Logic. For those of you that use these techniques, please let me know how you do this. I know that tools to do this are very common in notation programs (I use Sibelius), I haven't found how in Logic. Thanks, Larry * Don't want to get into a esoteric discussion of Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassical, Serial etc. vs. "Pop" music. I love them all.
