Logic Pro 9 takes are now stacked

I don't know what happened but for the longest time my takes in logic stacked on top of one another and then all the sudden they unpack themselves whenever I punch in somewhere, creating the new punch audio under the track taking up space. How can I revert to new punch recordings just stacking on top of tracks by default (like it used to be) so I don't have to scroll more like I do now? thanks.
