Logic 9 volume envelope error

    hello,
I am doing the sound for a film and I have a lot of volume envelopes on tracks (automation). since I cannot upload a picture I will explain: all of them are a sort of fade in fade out type but not completely from 0 to -inf. let's say from 0 to -12 dB and then back after a few seconds. they are all smooth slopes.
whenever I save the project, close Logic and then return later to the same project, all my envelopes are straight 90degrees. logic adds a point for each envelope slope and makes it abrupt.
it does not do this on all tracks. it doesn't happen on an entire track all the time. only on some parts. I could not identify a pattern of behavior.
please tell me how I can get rid of this. it is extremely annoying. it takes me one hour every time I open the project to delete these points that Logic adds and then my work is in vain. if I close it and open it again, it looks the same.

    thank you for your help.

Why don't you upload your pictures to some free service, such as the amazing skitch, or flickr, or any one of many others?

Could you also provide some systemdetails? What you are describing should not be any great problem. Also, are you using region based automation, or track based? It sounds like RBA, but I think it is worth clarifying.

    kind regards

I have started removing the extra points in automation that Logic added. at some point it said "out of memory" and put them ALL back !!! I am going crazy.

It appears on first glance to be rather buggy, in which case, please provide all the information listed here, I can then move this thread into the wishlist/bug area of the forum.

    kind regards

You really need to provide system details along with these posts.

Just go into user cp, which you will find on the left in the second row of menu items on any forum page , then go to setting options ->edit signature.

One other thing - are any other changes you made before saving actually being saved? It might be worthwhile checking so as to rule out any potential permissions issue.

    kind regards

    thanks.
I wasn't making any other changes so I don't know for the moment. I will try now to see if the changes are saved or not.

Are you using lot's of Flex Editing? If so, this is a huge Memory Hog - especially if also running sample-based Instruments. Logic starts giving warnings like the ones in your screenshots as it approaches the memory limit -- then it eventually crashes or quits. On a 4 GB RAM machine, there is probably only 2+ available to Logic..... Could lead to your bugs ????

thanks but it's not that. I am not using flex at all. I am not using any instruments. just regular wav and aiff files on 8 ch. each mono. a few eq, comps and reverb.
    must be something else.

Dead post maybe but I just had the same issue

I'm not sure what did it but I think that maybe adding a track and saving it or vice versa and also having this "out of memory issue" combination did it. I noticed the same "Blocked out" slopes on my volume automation (returning into a saved session) but there was one other thing. Some of the automations were bumped up a track (i.e. same time location but on the wrong track). Not sure what happened but it did happen twice and had to waste more time fixing. I even had logic lock up and had to force quit after 5 hours of work and lost the last hour. I'm not really looking for an answer (unless it keeps happening) just thought I would add my story to this. I've never had this issue, even with way more complex project. There was nothing else being done to these tracks except V.A.

Logic can get futzy with volume automation as well. A few years back I had a project on my G5 the was having all sorts of issues handling the volume automation, moved it to my Intel laptop (faster computer) and it was fine. Granted this was with older computers and probably Logic 8 but I still think this holds true.

I found using the "Delete Redundant Nodes" command to help.
