Can anyone tell me why I get a white line to the left of track numbers 9 thru 16?

    TIA Jay

It's because you have Control Surface Bars enabled in the Track Header. See the attached screen shot.

I see - but why only tracks 9 thru 16. And what are Control Surface Bars please?

A control surface refers to some sort of hardware controller that is used to control track or plug-in parameters within Logic. The control surface bars display is a visual indicator to show which bank of (usually eight) tracks are currently in focus on the control surface - in other words, which tracks the hardware knobs and faders are controlling.

You likely have a keyboard with knobs or sliders hooked up that Logic is recognizing as a control surface. If you're not using them, then the visual indicator of which tracks they are controlling is irrelevant to you.

    Gotcha. It'll be my keyboard.
