Some Musings On the Launch of the New LUG Site
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Welcome to the new site of the Logic Users Group! It's been a long time coming, and we're not 100% there yet—please excuse the niggles here and there as we clean up the last remaining bits and pieces. Nevertheless, we hope you'll allow us to beam with a little pride for what we've put together here. It took a long time and we worked long hours for no gain other than our pride in this community. We hope you like it as much as we do!
In his announcement email, Mark Cahill gave us all very warm and heartfelt thanks, but I wanted to take a moment to thank Mark for everything he has done. More than the rest of us, it was Mark who helped make the ideas come to fruition, filling out the team with the expertise it needed to get rolling, handling the business end of things, serving as final arbitrator, and so on. It may not have been the "sexiest" role (neither is writing, really, but I've always tried to consider writing a sexy skill...) but it was essentia, and he did it with poise and grace.
Every incarnation (and re-incarnation...) of the LUG has built on what came before, trying to create a richer user experience, and this latest and greatest offers the most immersive LUG yet. Ultimately the real test is going to be if you like it. The LUG has always been about its members, and that remained our guiding principle as we put the site and forums together. We thought hard about how we could expand the scope of the LUG without loosing the tight-nit community feeling the LUG has always enjoyed, even as the membership rose into the tens of thousands. We're always listening, and please don't hesitate to discuss the site in the "Discuss the LUG Site" forum. We want to hear what you have to say, and we will be constantly tweaking and adding to the site based in significant part on member suggestions.
We plan on using these LUG Admin blogs as our way to let you know whats going on with the site, especially when we add services, features, and make changes. We hope you enjoy this look into our mindset, and please, enjoy your new home!
